Introduction

The CariFree™ system embraces advanced infection detection and treatment technology to prevent cavities before they start.  In less than a minute, the CariFree™ system allows your dentist to measure the magnitude of harmful bacteria on your teeth.  If decay-causing bacteria are detected, your dentist can prescribe the CariFree™ treatment mouth rinses.  The CariFree™ series of anti-microbial mouth rinses reduce the amount of harmful bacteria, which helps to prevent cavities.  The CariFree™ system is a quick, easy, and affordable way to take control of your oral health.

Symptoms

Tooth decay occurs for several reasons including plaque formation, what you eat, the use of fluoride, how well you care for your teeth, heredity, and certain medical conditions.  Plaque plays a major role in tooth decay.  It is a thin sticky bacterial film that constantly forms over your teeth and can lead to cavities.  Even if you practice good brushing and flossing, you may still have excessive amounts of cavity-causing bacteria.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis with the CariScreen test is quick, easy, and pain-free.  For the best test results, do not eat or brush your teeth for at least one hour before the test.  Your dentist will simply rub two of your teeth with a swab and place the swab in a meter.  In less than a minute, your dentist can determine if you are at a low, moderate, or high risk for developing cavities in the future.

Risk factors for dental decay and the level of bacteria in your mouth can change overtime.  The bacteria may also be transmitted among family members.  It is recommended that you and your family members receive the CariScreen test once each year.

Treatment

The CariFree™ treatment program consists of using a series of anti-microbial pH balancing mouth rinses. The CariFree™ mouth rinses are very easy to use and affordable.  The CariFree™ Treatment rinse is used once a day for one minute until the entire prescription is used.  The CariFree™ Maintenance rinse is used once or twice a day, as prescribed by your dentist, to maintain your oral health.  It’s that easy!  Ask your dentist about CariFree™, the new way to take control of your oral health.
